Terms of Service
Seattle Door Co. LLC · Last updated October 21, 2026
1. Who you're dealing with
This site is owned and operated by Seattle Door Co. LLC, a Washington limited liability company ("Seattle Door Co.", "we", "us"). We sell the door and related products and we sell and are responsible for the installation — your entire purchase is a single contract with us.
We are a registered Washington contractor (registration no. pending), bonded and insured as Washington law requires. Installation work is performed by qualified, registered, and insured subcontractor crews working for us; your contract, your warranty, and your point of contact are with Seattle Door Co.
2. Service area
We only offer appointment times in ZIP codes where an installation crew covers your address. If we can't serve your ZIP code we'll tell you before you book. Service areas change as crews are added or removed, and availability shown on the site isn't a guarantee until an appointment is confirmed.
3. Measurements, fit, and the condition of your opening
The $49.99 measurement fee reserves an in-home appointment and is credited toward a door purchase. If you cancel before the measurement is performed, it's refunded; once the specialist has visited, it covers that visit. Door recommendations are based on the measurements taken and on information you provide. You're responsible for the accuracy of information you give us (including access, existing framing, and structural conditions).
Your price reflects what we could see. At the measurement visit we record and photograph the condition of each opening, and we price any repair work we can see then — rotted trim or threshold, out-of-square framing, a sagging header — into your quote, so it's part of the price you approve rather than a surprise later. Two things work differently:
- Conditions nobody can see until the old door comes out — rot in the framing behind the jamb, pest damage, missing flashing. These aren't in your price. We stop, photograph and price the work, and you approve or decline it in writing before we go further. Make-ready work under $250 we simply do, at our cost — no change order and no delay to your installation. Anything you do approve is added to your final payment rather than collected on the day, and the price comes from us, never from the crew.
- Regulated hazards — lead paint in a home built before 1978, asbestos, or significant mold. We stop, and we don't disturb them at any price. Those need a licensed abatement contractor of your choosing; once the area is cleared we come back and finish.
4. Pricing, taxes, orders, and acceptance
Prices are in U.S. dollars and may change until an order is placed. Washington sales tax applies to your whole purchase — the door and the installation labor — and is calculated at checkout from the installation address; we collect and remit it as the seller. We may decline or cancel any order — including for pricing or description errors, product unavailability, or where no crew serves your area — and in that case we refund what you paid for that order in full. Lead times are estimates provided by manufacturers, not commitments by us.
How you pay. On an installed project over $1,000 you pay in three parts: 50% when you sign, 40% when we order your door from the manufacturer — which we do only after your cancellation period has ended — and 10% when the installation is substantially complete. Smaller orders, and orders without installation, are paid in full when you sign. Your $49.99 measurement fee is credited against the total. Payments are processed by Stripe — card, bank debit, or approved financing — and we don't store card or account details.
5. Cancellations, returns, and refunds
For three business days after you sign, you may cancel for a full refund of everything you have paid, the $49.99 measurement fee included, and we order nothing until that period has passed. After it, doors are custom-configured goods: once ordered, cancellation depends on the manufacturer releasing its commitment, which is never guaranteed. Refunds are limited to amounts we actually recover. The full policy is in our Cancellation & Return Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
6. Warranties
Two warranties cover your project, both coordinated by us. The product carries the manufacturer's warranty, which we pass through and help you pursue. The installation carries our own workmanship warranty for one (1) year from the date of installation. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no other warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Nothing here limits rights that can't be limited under Washington law.
7. Contractor disclosures, retainage, and lien rights
Before installation work begins we provide the disclosure statement required by RCW 18.27.114 — our registration number, bond, and your lien-related rights — and ask you to acknowledge it on your order page. You may request lien release documents from the subcontractors and suppliers on your project, and we provide them as the law requires. Our practice is to pay crews and suppliers promptly and collect releases so liens never arise.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Seattle Door Co. LLC's total liability for any claim connected to an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order, and we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages — including lost time, delays by manufacturers or carriers, or the cost of alternative arrangements. This limitation does not limit our workmanship warranty (§6), any right you have against our contractor bond, or any right that cannot be limited under Washington law.
9. Accounts and acceptable use
Access requires a valid sign-in, and you're responsible for activity under your account. Don't misuse the site, attempt to reach data that isn't yours, scrape it, or interfere with its operation. We may suspend access at any time.
10. How we contact you
Booking creates a transactional relationship, so we'll email you about your order: confirmations, the doors that fit your opening, scheduling, and receipts. You can't opt out of those while an order is live — they are the service.
Text messages are different and always optional. We text you only if you ticked the SMS box at booking or texted us first; consent is not a condition of purchase, message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop, HELP for help, or START to resume. Automated texts are never sent between 9pm and 8am Pacific. We do not record phone calls. How long we keep messages, and who can see them, is covered in the Privacy Policy.
11. What we need from you
- Pay only Seattle Door Co. Your contract is with us and we collect every payment. Never pay an installation crew directly, and never accept a separate contract, quote, or change order from a crew — no crew has authority to offer one, change your price, or take your money. If a crew asks, tell us. Paying us is what keeps your warranty, your cancellation rights, and your protection against a lien on your home intact.
- You have the right to authorize the work. By ordering you confirm you own the property or are authorized to approve work on it, and that the work doesn't violate an easement, covenant, historic-district rule, homeowners association rule, or lease. Those approvals are yours to obtain.
- Please don't help us carry. Doors are heavy and awkward and our crews are equipped for them. If you choose to physically assist with a delivery or any part of the installation, you do so at your own risk.
- Give the crew a safe place to work. Clear access to the opening and to parking, working electricity, pets secured, and children kept out of the work area while the door is out. Tell us about anything a crew wouldn't expect — a sprinkler line, a septic field, an alarm sensor in the jamb.
12. Photographs of your project
Our crews photograph each opening before, during, and after the work. We use these photographs internally only — to confirm fit, document the condition we started from, support a warranty claim, resolve a dispute, and supervise our crews. They're kept with your order under our Privacy Policy. We won't publish them, use them in advertising, or show them publicly without asking you first and getting your agreement in writing, and you can ask us not to photograph something specific.
13. Your door before it's installed
A door remains our property until it's installed in your home, and until then the risk of loss or damage is ours, not yours, even after it reaches your address. So that this means something in practice, we don't leave doors unattended: we deliver on the day the crew installs, or to the crew's shop, or at a time you've agreed to receive it. If you ask us to leave a door unattended, or nobody is there to receive a delivery you agreed to, the risk passes to you at delivery. If a delivery arrives damaged, tell us within 48 hours with photographs and don't let the crew install it.
14. If something goes wrong
Tell us promptly. Raise any problem connected to your order within 30 days of when you noticed it or reasonably should have. We'll acknowledge within 3 business days and work to resolve it within 60 days. Give us a reasonable chance to inspect and put it right before having anyone else do the work.
Talk to us before you sue. If we can't resolve something informally, both of us agree to a good-faith conference first, and neither of us starts a court action until 60 days after one of us asks for that conference. Any limitation period on your claim is paused while that runs, so nothing is lost by talking first. This doesn't apply to small claims court or to emergency relief. Nothing here shortens any warranty period or waives any statutory right, including under Washington's Consumer Protection Act and RCW 18.27 — it's a notice requirement, not a deadline to bring a claim.
15. General
Entire agreement. Your agreement with us is the signed project agreement and any signed change orders, these Terms, the Cancellation & Return Policy, the warranty, and the Privacy Policy — and if they conflict, that's the order in which they win, except where the law requires otherwise. Advertisements, website and catalog descriptions, quotes, estimates, and conversations aren't part of your contract unless written into one of those documents.
No assignment. You can't transfer your rights under an order without our written agreement; we may assign to a successor to our business, which never reduces what you're owed.
Things outside anyone's control. Neither we nor a crew is responsible for delay caused by events beyond our reasonable control — manufacturer or carrier delay or damage in transit, product discontinuation, weather, fire, flood, earthquake, labor disputes, utility outages, government action, permit or inspection delay, a concealed or regulated condition under §3, or your own delay or inaccurate information. We'll tell you promptly with a revised schedule; a delay of this kind isn't a breach by us.
Severability, waiver, and signatures. If a provision is unenforceable the rest stays in effect, and not enforcing something once doesn't waive it. An electronic signature or click-through acceptance counts as a signature, and we may send notices to the email address on your order.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Raise a problem with us first — §14 sets out how, and asks both of us to sit down before either of us goes to court. After that, any dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in King County, Washington, and you consent to that jurisdiction. We deliberately don't require arbitration or ask you to give up a jury trial or the right to join with others: small disputes belong in small claims court, where they're cheap for you to bring.
17. Changes
We may update these Terms; the "last updated" date above will change. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms. The terms in effect when you placed an order govern that order.
